My approach to orthopedic care is based upon my training in sports medicine. I had the privilege of studying with two pioneers in dance medicine, Justin Howse, FRCS, and William Hamilton, MD. I am a Charter Member of IADMS, and Past President. My special interest is the care of performing artists. <><><>
I am Orthopedist to Mark Morris Dance Group, Paul Taylor Dance Company, Parsons Dance Company, Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo, Ballet Hispanico, and The Roundabout Theatre Company. I served as the Orthopedic Consultant to The Juilliard School, working with musicians, dancers, actors, and singers, from 1988 to 2020. I served as Orthopedist for Merce Cunningham Dance Company from 1999 to 2011, when the company disbanded. <><><>
I have served as Orthopedist for over 100 Broadway and off-Broadway theatrical productions, including The Will Rogers Follies, Guys & Dolls, Miss Saigon, Cats, The Who’s Tommy, Grease, Monty Python's Spamalot, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, Riverdance on Broadway, Evita, War Horse, Motown, Les Misérable, A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Matilda, Groundhog Day, and Anastasia. <><><> At present, I serve as Orthopedist to Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre, Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre, The Book of Mormon at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre, Aladdin at the New Amsterdam Theatre, Hamilton at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theatre, Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre, Beetlejuice at the Marquis Theatre, 1776 at the American Airlines Theatre, Only Gold at MCC Theater Space, Almost Famous at the Jacobs Theatre, and &Juliet at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre. <><><>
I am Clinical Associate Professor at New York University School of Medicine and Associate Director of the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries at NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital, NYU Langone Health. <><><>
In all of these capacities, I work closely with physical therapists, athletic trainers, acupuncturists, nutritionists, and other health care practitioners who specialize in performing arts medicine. <><><>
